Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz conducted a fundraising event at the residence of Alex Soros on Monday, as reported by a pool report. The event was held at the Manhattan home of Alex Soros and his spouse, Huma Abedin, who previously served as a senior aide to Hillary Clinton, according to The New York Times. Additionally, The Wall Street Journal noted in June 2023 that Alex Soros has assumed control of the philanthropic and political legacies established by his father, George Soros.

“I’m more political,” the younger Soros told the WSJ in 2023, comparing himself to his father. “As much as I would love to get money out of politics, as long as the other side is doing it, we will have to do it, too.”

Reports did not reveal the attendees of the Walz fundraiser held at Soros’ residence, nor did they specify the amount of funds raised. The Harris campaign did not provide a response to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s inquiry for comment.

Since assuming leadership from his father, Alex Soros has been actively involved in political endeavors, contributing millions to political committees focused on aiding Democratic candidates and promoting abortion access through his Democracy PAC. Campaign finance records show that the Soros-affiliated Open Society Action Fund has invested $3 million in support of a constitutional amendment in Florida, a proposal that critics, including Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, contend would permit abortions up to the moment of birth.

The summary of the ballot for the amendment states that it would prohibit the state legislature from imposing restrictions on abortion access prior to viability outside the womb, typically around 24 weeks, and would authorize healthcare providers, such as Planned Parenthood, to perform an abortion at any stage if deemed necessary for the mother’s health. In 2023, Walz enacted legislation that legalized abortion up to the point of birth and eliminated the requirement for healthcare providers to attempt to save the lives of infants born alive during an abortion procedure.

Although Alex Soros has expressed public support for Israel, the Open Society Foundations contributed funds in 2023 to various organizations that have organized anti-Israel protests. Notably, Jewish Voice for Peace Action and If Not Now Education Fund, both associated with the surge of anti-Israel demonstrations that occurred nationwide after the Hamas terrorist attacks on October 7, received substantial financial support amounting to six figures.

Under Alex Soros’s leadership, the Open Society Foundations has also prioritized its investments in voter mobilization initiatives, pledging in April, in collaboration with a coalition of progressive nonprofits, to accelerate its funding efforts in this domain.
