House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) has come under scrutiny from Democrats for his investigation into alleged corruption in the Georgia case against former President Donald Trump. Democrats are calling for retaliatory measures.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has accused Congressman Jordan of “obstruction” in response to his request for information regarding the case against Trump. Willis sent a letter strongly criticizing Jordan, asserting that his investigations are in direct conflict with the Constitution.

Willis wrote in part:

“Your attempt to invoke congressional authority to intrude upon and interfere with an active criminal case in Georgia is flagrantly at odds with the Constitution.

“The defendants in this case have been charged under state law with committing state crimes.

“There is absolutely no support for Congress purporting to second guess or somehow supervise an ongoing Georgia criminal investigation and prosecution.”

The letter, on the other hand, has stirred strong reactions among Democrats.

MSNBC legal analyst Glenn Kirschner has proposed that Willis should present the obstruction evidence against Jordan to a Georgia grand jury.

Kirschner is urging Willis to explore the possibility of criminal charges against Jordan.

Kirschner shared:

“DA Fani Willis has announced that Jim Jordan is ‘interfering in’ & ‘obstructing’ the Georgia RICO prosecution of Donald Trump.

“Accordingly, evidence of Jordan’s obstruction should be presented to a GA grand jury to assess if there’s probable cause to criminally charge Jordan.”

Anti-Trump Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) also weighed in on the issue with a rather unsurprising response.

“Jim Jordan’s efforts to use the House Judiciary Committee to interfere with the prosecutions of Trump in NY, GA, and by DOJ, are as abusive of the congressional process as they are destructive of the justice system,” said Schiff, who is accused of falsifying evidence during multiple congressional investigations.

“They are another prime example of the GOP’s endless and bottomless obedience to their corrupt leader.”
