Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a prominent Democrat, made baseless accusations against Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and his wife, Ginni, during her appearance on national television.
During her interview on CNN, Ocasio-Cortez failed to provide any evidence to support her sensational claims against the Thomases.
Interestingly, Ocasio-Cortez went on to criticize Ginni Thomas for questioning the outcome of the 2020 election, despite the lack of evidence to support such claims. It appears that Ocasio-Cortez is pushing a false narrative in an attempt to pressure Thomas into recusing himself from a case involving President Donald Trump, as reported by The Blaze.
The Supreme Court has agreed to review Trump’s appeal regarding the Colorado Supreme Court’s ruling that he is ineligible to hold the presidency, which was announced last week. In response to Thomas’s decision, Ocasio-Cortez labeled it as a “scandal” during her CNN interview.
Ocasio-Cortez has accused Thomas, a respected member of the Supreme Court, of participating in an insurrection and claimed that he is unfit to serve on the bench if a case involving Trump arises.
“I think it’s very clear Clarence Thomas, and, rather, his wife, Ginni, participated in the events of Jan. 6,” Ocasio-Cortez told CNN anchor Anderson Cooper without evidence.
“And now what is likely going before the Supreme Court is a judgment as to whether an event that his wife participated in, that his wife has been investigated by, in the Jan. 6 committee in, qualifies as an insurrection,” AOC continued.
“And Clarence Thomas’ decision on that one way or another, and overall the court’s decision on that, would directly implicate his wife.
Ocasio-Cortez further expressed her belief that the Supreme Court justice and constitutional scholar should refrain from offering their legal opinion on Trump’s case.
“So this is just one of the most classic textbook conflicts of interest and it would, frankly, be a scandal if he did not recuse himself.”
