(The Post Millennial) – President Biden intends to meet with CEO’s of major American companies on Wednesday in an effort to push them to compel their workforces to get vaccinated.
The White House announced the meeting at a press briefing on Wednesday, and said that “the requirements will help sustain our economic recovery,” and said the mandates had already increased vaccination rates.
This meeting comes after his announcement last week that vaccines would be mandated, per OSHA regulations on safe workplaces, requiring employers with over 100 workers to require vaccinations.
Biden said on Tuesday that there had been “positive support for mandates, by and large,” and one recent poll shows that while 51 percent of Americans are in favor of vaccine requirements, 49 percent are not.
The White House, however, is positive about the Wednesday meeting, saying that they hope it will serve “as a rallying fry for more businesses across the country to step up and institute similar measures,” according to Reuters.
Those business leaders who will be on hand include executives from Walt Disney Co, Microsoft Corp and Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc, Kaiser Permanente, the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream.
Many businesses have already thrown their support behind Biden’s vaccine mandates for employers.
The administration has said repeatedly that there would be no federal vaccine passport or credential for Americans, but that they would work with businesses to establish their own.
