(The Post Millennial) – A coroner has reportedly arrived at a Florida park after police uncovered clothing belonging to Gabby Petito’s murder suspect Brian Laundrie. Authorities also identified human remains on Wednesday, prompting the call for the coroner. According to TMZ, Laundrie’s family led the FBI to a trail frequented by Brian.
“Chris and Roberta went to the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park this morning to search for Brian,” Attorney Steven Bertolino said in an email. “The FBI and (North Port Police Department) were informed last night of Brian’s parents’ intentions and they met Chris and Roberta there this morning.”
“After a brief search off a trail that Brian frequented, some articles belonging to Brian were found. As of now law enforcement is conducting a more thorough search of that area,” Bertolino continued.
By 11:00 am Wednesday, authorities confirmed that the K-9 unit found what appeared to be human remains in an area underwater. Minutes later, the coroner was called.
This news comes as an autopsy recently confirmed Gabby Petito died of strangulation. According to the New York Post, Teton County Coroner Brent Blue revealed that the 22-year-old was strangled to death but could not pinpoint exactly when she died. The body of Petito was reportedly exposed to the elements and wildlife of the Bridger-Teton National Forest for three to four weeks.
