(The Post Millennial) – On Thursday, Vice President Kamala Harris copied the sentiments of President Joe Biden during an interview, suggesting that, in the absence of new voting rights measures being passed, the Nov 2022 midterm elections’ results will be suspect.

“The president has been consistent on this issue,” Kamala told host Savannah Guthrie, after Guthrie mentioned that she considered Biden’s previous statements to be “astonishing.”

Kamala added: “So what we’re looking at and the topic of so much debate last night was that we as America cannot afford to allow this blatant erosion of our democracy and in particular, the right of all Americans who are eligible to vote, to have access to the ballot unfettered. That is the topic of the conversation.

“Whether Americans with disabilities have the opportunity to vote by mail, whether a single parent has the opportunity with three kids in the backseat to vote by dropping off their ballot in the dropbox instead of having to stand in line with those three kids for hours? These are the issues that are at stake.”

According to the New York Post, “Democrats contend the measures are needed to counter legislation passed by Republican-led states that purport to make voting easier but actually add new restrictions.”

The Democrats introduced two bills to Congress, the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and the Freedom to Vote Act. It, however, appears that both pieces of legislation are possibly not going to be able to make it, due to staunch opposition to them.

“The increase in the prospect of being illegitimate is in direct proportion to us not being able to get these reforms passed?. You’re not going to see me and I don’t think you’re going to see the Democratic Party give up on coming back,” Biden had previously commented on the issue.

Many people are taking the above statement as a veiled threat on the part of Biden to not certify the election results of the coming midterm elections if they don’t go in the Democrats’ favor.
