(JTNews) – Just 1% of Americans rating the U.S. economy under President Joe Biden as being “excellent,” a recent poll revealed.

In the Quinnipiac survey, Americans were generally sour on Biden’s handling of the economy and other important issues. Just 1% of registered voters said the economy was “excellent,” while 20% said it was “good.” A strong majority of 79% said it was either “not so good” or “poor.” When the survey expanded to include all Americans, the “excellent” category dropped below the 1% mark.

Americans overall gave Biden 37% support on the economy compared to 58% who disapproved of his handling of the issue. He was also underwater on Climate Change, 44-49 approval/disapproval, foreign policy, 38-54; and the Southern Border, 27-60.

Inflation stood as the top issue for respondents, with 27% of them identifying it as such. Consumer prices rose at an annualized rate of 8.5% in July. That figure represented a modest decline from the 9.1% peak in June, but is still significantly higher than previous norms, which had hovered around 2% until 2021.

Inflation and immigration were top issues among Republicans while Democrats generally prioritized abortion and climate change. A plurality of independents identified inflation as their superlative economic concern. The Supreme Court overturned the landmark abortion precedent set in Roe v. Wade in June, prompting several states to ban or restrict the procedure.

Biden’s approval rating among registered voters stood at 41%, with 53% disapproving, a significant improvement over his July rating of 33% approve to 59% disapprove, but still considerably under water.
