(JTNews) – Another bus carrying migrants arrived Thursday morning near Vice President Kamala Harris’ official residence in Washington, D.C., the same day that two other buses with migrants arrived in New York City.
About 50 men, women and children were dropped off at Harris’ house, the second such drop-off this week at the Naval Observatory, according to NBC Washington.
Volunteers responded to help the migrants, many of whom are expected to travel out of the District of Columbia, according to NBC.
Migrants were first relocated from Texas to Harris’ home three weeks ago when two busloades of them were dropped off there.
Migrants are being bused from states such as Texas and Florida to sanctuary cities and other such jurisdictions across the nation in an attempt by officials in those states to get those in other states to share the taxpayer burden of record migration along the southern U.S. border.
Democratic D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser declared a public health emergency last month in response to the migrant buses after nearly 11,000 migrants were brought to her city from Texas and Arizona.
