(The Post Millenial) – After accidentally killing a cinematographer on the film set of “Rust” with a “prop gun,” Alec Baldwin is reported to be “absolutely devastated” and “is cancelling other projects.”

The 63-year-old actor killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounded director Joel Souza by aiming, firing a gun at them that he reportedly did not believe was loaded. They were not filming at the time. Experts have claimed that this was an egregious violation of gun safety rules on movie sets.

“This is how he handles difficult times. Whenever something bad happens, in the short term, he removes himself from [the]public eye,” an unnamed source close to Baldwin told the New York Post.

“It’s going to take him time to figure all this out. It was pretty devastating. He needs to take a while to himself, to be with his family,” the source said.

The source added that Baldwin was “hysterical and absolutely inconsolable for hours,” and that he is going to “take some time to himself and re-center himself.”

Baldwin’s previous tweets reveal that he was staunchly in favor of gun control laws, and may have been very ignorant about gun safety in general.

The Santa Fe police have launched an investigation into what went on and where blame will legally be laid, if anywhere.
