On Monday, Republican Governor Mike DeWine of Ohio announced that the numerous bomb threats received by schools in Springfield are hoaxes that have originated from outside the United States. The city is currently facing challenges due to an influx of over 20,000 Haitian migrants, which has led to a rise in traffic accidents and soaring housing costs. Many local residents are attributing the situation to President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas. During his announcement, DeWine also stated that the Ohio State Highway Patrol will be implementing daily bomb sweeps at the schools, as reported by the Columbus Dispatch.
“We have people, unfortunately overseas, who are taking these actions. Some of them are coming from one particular country,” DeWine said during a Monday afternoon news conference.
