President Donald Trump recently raised a sensitive issue when he questioned why Nikki Haley’s husband, Michael Haley, has not been accompanying her on the campaign trail. This inquiry provoked an angry response from Haley. During a campaign speech in Conway, South Carolina, Trump brought up the topic of Michael Haley’s whereabouts. It is worth noting that Haley is currently the only remaining “challenger” to Trump in the Republican presidential primary field.

However, the use of quotation marks around “challenger” is justified as Haley trails Trump by an average of 56.2 percentage points in the polls. Additionally, Haley has not won any Republican primary or caucus so far. Prior to posing his question, Trump criticized Haley by referring to her as “Birdbrain,” a nickname he has given her.

“Birdbrain loves mass asylum,” Trump said.

“There’s nothing nice about her.”

Following this, Trump proceeded to emphasize instances of Haley’s lack of loyalty. Specifically, he pointed out that despite her previous declaration of never running against him, she has chosen to do so.

Furthermore, Trump asserts that Haley, along with her husband, personally made this promise to him. At this point, Trump digressed and began discussing Haley’s husband.

“Where’s her husband? Where is he?” Trump said.

“He’s gone. He knew, he knew.”

Michael Haley, who may be unknown to some, is a dedicated member of the South Carolina Army National Guard.

Fox reports that he is “a staff officer with the 218th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade.”

Nikki Haley was NOT happy, and took to social media to respond:

“Michael is deployed serving our country, something you know nothing about.

“Someone who continually disrespects the sacrifices of military families has no business being commander in chief.”
