The sanctuary designation of New York City has faced significant criticism from law enforcement officials following the arrest of an undocumented immigrant for the violent sexual assault of a woman. NYPD representatives expressed their concerns regarding the city’s sanctuary status after Daniel Davon-Bonilla, an undocumented immigrant from Nicaragua, was accused of raping a woman at knifepoint on Sunday.
John Chell, the chief of patrol for the NYPD, commented on the issue of crime involving migrants in light of this heinous incident. The 24-year-old Davon-Bonilla is alleged to have attacked a 46-year-old woman, assaulting her at knifepoint with the assistance of an accomplice.
Chell contended that individuals like Davon-Bonilla enter the United States with the intent to exploit residents of the city. He maintained that these individuals are not crossing the border unlawfully in pursuit of a better life.
People from across the globe come to NYC in pursuit of a better life—the American Dream. However, a small portion have other intentions, including committing crimes and preying on the people of New York City. Daniel Davon-Bonilla is one such predator.
When will our sanctuary…
