Former President Barack Obama and Vice President Kamala Harris are alleged to have been covertly influencing recent developments that have significantly impacted the 2024 presidential election. Investigative journalist Seymour Hersh has asserted that Obama and Harris issued a warning to President Joe Biden, suggesting that they would invoke the 25th Amendment of the US Constitution to remove him from office if he did not step aside from the presidential race.
According to Hersh’s blog post on Substack, Obama informed Biden that he had secured Harris’s consent to utilize this constitutional provision concerning presidential incapacity. Hersh explains that the 25th Amendment allows for the removal of a president deemed unable to fulfill their responsibilities, resulting in the vice president assuming the presidency. He further claims that by the time Obama reached out to Biden, it was evident that Harris would gain the support of Democratic leaders to pursue the party’s nomination.
Obama’s communication with Biden occurred during a period of dissatisfaction among major Democratic donors. Several prominent Democratic financiers had threatened to withdraw their financial support due to concerns regarding Biden’s health.
On July 21, Biden publicly declared his decision to exit the race and subsequently endorsed Harris as his successor for the party’s nomination.
On July 26, Harris received endorsements from both Barack and Michelle Obama, although it seemed they did so reluctantly. The endorsement was made public through a shared “phone call” on social media. The phone call, which appeared to be more of a pre-recorded message than an actual conversation, was captured on video. It was suggested that the call was on speakerphone, as Harris held the phone to her ear, with a microphone visibly attached to her blazer.
“The official, who has decades of experience in fundraising, told me that Obama emerged as the strongman throughout the negotiations,” Hersh said.
“‘He had an agenda and he wanted to seek it through to the end, and he wanted to have control over who would be elected,’” he quoted his source saying of Obama.
It was also rumored that Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Majority Leader Chich Schumer (D-NY) were seeking Biden’s removal. There were also rumors that if Biden did not step down, his legacy would be in jeopardy. After Biden’s withdrawal letter was published on X, followed shortly by Harris’s endorsement, party leaders began praising the president’s “selfless” decision to step aside. Similarly, Biden was hailed as a hero for “his decision” to nominate Harris.
Democrat House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) and Schumer immediately asserted that Harris’s candidacy was a result of “grassroots” support and not a top-down decision. If Hersch is correct, however, it becomes clear that Biden did not step down “selflessly.” Instead, he was ousted in a coup under the threat of losing his presidency altogether. It now becomes increasingly evident that Harris was installed by top party leaders and not, as they would like Americans to believe, by grassroots support.
