(TStarnes) – A Democrat lawmaker in Arizona was captured on surveillance video stealing Bibles from a private lounge for legislators.

Rep. Stephanie Stahl Hamilton was seen swiping two Bibles from the lounge. And here’s a kick in the pants – Hamilton is an ordained minister.

It’s a move that Republican Pro-Tempore Speaker Travis Grantham believes is sinister. “When I’m watching that, I’m thinking, ‘Well, this is obviously someone who’s got some purpose and some intent, and they know they’re doing something bad,” Republican Pro-Tem Grantham told the CBS News affiliate.

Security teams found one of the Bibles stuffed in a chair and the other was found in a refrigerator.

“For an ordained minister to do that, again, it’s nonsensical. I have no clarity as to why it happened,” Grantham told the television station.

Reporter David Caltabiano confronted Hamilton about the surveillance video and she brushed it off as just being playful.

“Just a little playful commentary on the separation of church and state. I am a Presbyterian minister so I obviously don’t have a problem with the Bible,” Hamilton said in a statement to the television station.

If Hamilton is a “reverend,” then Al Sharpton is the pope.

For the record, there’s nothing in the Constitution about the “separation of church and state.” As a matter of fact, all of our founding documents are flavored with teachings from the Holy Bible.

Arizona’s official motto is “God Enriches” so it makes perfect since to have His Word available for lawmakers in the state capitol building.

And even a liberal lady preacher should know there’s nothing playful about stealing – especially Bibles.

Representative Hamilton should consider reading God’s Word instead of stuffing it in the fridge. I’d start with Exodus Chapter 20, Verse 15.

Thou shall not steal.
