(The Post Millennial) – Former US President Donald Trump found himself to have a huge lead in a straw poll conducted during this weekend’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Dallas, TX.

The poll conducted amongst CPAC attendees shows Trump having a lead of almost 50 percent over Florida’s all-star governor Ron DeSantis. 70 percent of those surveyed wanted Trump to be the 2024 Republican nominee, while 21 percent say they preferred DeSantis, the New York Post reports.

There were other people on the poll, but none of them received more than one percent. Trump attended CPAC, where he told the crowd, “I want to personally thank each and every one of you for your incredible support.”

Trump, who would be 78 years old in 2024, is yet to confirm if he intends to run again. However, he said on Fox News, “I do know my answer, but I can’t reveal it yet because that has to do with campaign financing and everything else.”

DeSantis previously had a lead on Trump in pre-primary polls for the preferred 2024 GOP candidate.

The 42-year-old Yale and Harvard educated Governor of Florida has become an all-star amongst conservatives, for his initiative in implementing conservative policies in the state, including rejecting COVID-19 lockdowns, critical race theory, and protecting girls sports.
