Governor Gavin Newsom (D) acknowledged on a progressive podcast that he has been instructed to describe the nomination process for Vice President Kamala Harris as “a very open process, a very inclusive process.” However, it is important to note that the Democratic Party did not adhere to a truly democratic process. Party leaders effectively appointed Harris, who did not receive any votes in the Democratic primaries, thereby disregarding approximately 14 million votes cast for President Joe Biden. Harris formally accepted her party’s nomination on Thursday.

“We went through a very open process, a very inclusive process. It was bottom-up, I don’t know if you know that. That’s what I’ve been told to say,” Newsom laughed on the Pod Save America podcast:
