(TStarnes) – Paul Ryan said he will not attend the upcoming Republican National Convention, which is set to be held in his home state of Wisconsin, if former President Trump garners the GOP’s 2024 nomination.

In an interview Friday, Ryan said there are no circumstances under which he would support the former president again.

“Come 2024, the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, where will you be?” a reporter for Milwaukee’s ABC News affiliate asked Ryan.

“It depends on who the nominee is,” the former House speaker replied. “I’ll be here if it’s somebody not named Trump,” he said.

The reporter then asked, “Even in Wisconsin?” Ryan confirmed saying, “Even in Wisconsin.”

Back in November when Trump announced his 2024 presidential bid, Ryan called himself a “never-again Trumper.” In the interview, the former speaker blamed Trump for the GOP’s lackluster performance in recent elections, saying Republicans “lost with him in ‘18, in ‘20, and ‘22.”

Ryan said he believes Trump will cost the GOP another election if he is the nominee.

While Ryan confidently bashed Trump’s ability to win another election, the former speaker failed to mention that he was part of a losing GOP presidential ticket when he ran for vice president with Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) in 2012.

Additionally, a recent poll shows that Ryan’s analysis may be flawed.

A Harvard CAPS survey released last week shows Trump as the front-runner among his fellow Republicans. It also shows the former president beating President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in a general election matchup.

The poll shows Trump beating his closest competitor Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) by 18 points. Further, the survey results show the former president winning against Biden by a margin of 5 points and Harris by 10.
