According to various reports, Democratic Senator John Fetterman from Pennsylvania was engaged in a collision involving two vehicles on Sunday in Maryland. Fetterman and his wife, Giselle, were traveling in a Chevrolet Traverse when it collided with a Chevrolet Impala near the intersection of Interstates 70 and 68, close to Hancock, Maryland, at approximately 8 a.m. on Sunday morning. WTAE reported that both the senator and his wife were transported to War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, for assessment. The Pennsylvania Democrat received treatment for a bruised shoulder, as stated by WPVI.

“According to a preliminary investigation, a Chevrolet Traverse and a Chevrolet Impala were both traveling west on I-70 when for unknown reasons, the Traverse struck the rear of the Impala. The driver of the Traverse is identified as John Fetterman, 54, of Pennsylvania,” the Maryland State Police said.

“A passenger in the Traverse and the operator of the Impala were transported by ambulance to War Memorial Hospital in West Virginia for treatment of their injuries,” MSP continued.

Fetterman experienced a stroke during his Senate campaign in 2022, just days before securing the Democratic nomination. In February 2023, he was admitted to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for inpatient treatment to address his depression.

“No citations were issued,” the MSP told the DCNF. “The crash investigation remains active and ongoing.”
