(TStarnes) – After fleeing the Democrat Party, Georgia State Rep. Mesha Mainor (R) told the “Todd Starnes Show” she’s been inundated with “racist hate mail.”

Mainor posted a few screenshots of them on Twitter, including one man that called her a “dumb-ss aunt Jemima mother f–ing traitor” and a “self-hating black n— b-tch.”

She told host Todd Starnes the messages are from Democrats.

“You think Democrats are a party of tolerance,” Mainor explained. “They did not tolerate me, if you will, when I was with them. They are not tolerating me when I’m not with them. So to say you’re a party of inclusion. You only are inclusive to a select few people. And children that can’t read are not a part of that agenda.”

The Georgia politician who made national headlines said she made the switch because “Republicans have always been very helpful.”

“We share values on lots of things like public safety and education, so it just was a smart decision for me and my community,” Mainor added.

Below is the full transcript from Mesha Mainor’s interview on the “Todd Starnes Show”:

STARNES: [00:32:27] Good to have you with us. So what was it, about a week or so ago, we first told you about this great American patriot. Her name is Mesha Mainor, and she has been a Democrat for a very long time, representing the 56th district there in the Georgia State House and announced that she is switching her party registration to Republican. And all you know what has broken loose in the beautiful state of Georgia. So let’s go right now to the Patriot mobile newsmaker line. It is an honor to have State Representative Mesha Mainor with us. Welcome to the program. [00:33:04][36.5]

MAINOR: [00:33:05] Thank you so much for having me. I appreciate it. [00:33:08][2.8]

STARNES: [00:33:08] Well, I’m excited to hear your story. And I’m curious to know, what was it that finally convinced you? You know what? It’s it’s time for a change. [00:33:16][8.4]

MAINOR: [00:33:18] You know, it was not an overnight decision. I’ve been down at the capital for three years now. From the moment I walked through the door, I was not their first pick. My first campaign I would say maybe 20 or so elected officials endorsed my opponent and I won. So when I got into the capital, they made it clear that I was not their choice and that they were never going to work with me. Over the next three years, every single bill, anything I try to do for my community, it was just let’s try to sabotage it. To the point where they started putting up thousand dollar checks so people would run against me. And I think it just was a combination of all of those things that led to the decision. And at the end of the day, life is short. The Republicans have always been very helpful. We share values on lots of things like public safety and education, so it just was a smart decision for me and my community. [00:34:24][65.9]

STARNES: [00:34:25] You know, here and, you know, we base our show in my hometown of Memphis, Tennessee, and we have a we’re controlled by Democrats here, and we have been for four generations. And the school system is is in horrible condition. Crime is off the charts. And and really, there has not been an emphasis placed on families and helping to build strong families here. So so I see exactly where you’re coming from on all of this. [00:34:50][25.4]

MAINOR: [00:34:52] You know, families are so important, especially our children. I don’t know how things are in your community in that greater Memphis area, but in Atlanta, the schools that I represent, at times there are 2% of the students are meeting math proficiency, 3% are meeting reading proficiency. So we’re in the era of A.I. right, ChatGPT. If people cannot read, how are you going to get a job? Right. And Goldman Sachs just came out with a study that said 300 million jobs are going to be lost in the next ten years. That is not your job per say, Right? It’s going to be the people that have low education that are going to be losing their jobs. And so we’re putting America in a place where it’s not going to be able to sustain unless we fix our educational system. [00:35:48][56.1]

STARNES: [00:35:48] I don’t know if you remember another Democrat, another great Democrat in Georgia was the governor. I became a senator and he created a national firestorm when he left the Democrat Party. And and and to his point, his name is Zell Miller. And Zell Miller said and you said something very similar to what he said, The Democrat Party has left me. I haven’t changed. They’ve changed. [00:36:11][22.3]

MAINOR: [00:36:13] You know, someone said on my social media, I worked for John Lewis when I was up D.C. in the D.C. office. They said John Lewis would be rolling, is rolling in his grave right now and may he rest in peace. My response was the Democrat Party in the sixties is not the Democrat Party today. So sorry about my background, but the Democrat Party in the sixties is not the Democrat Party from today. And until we get back to values, the family, educating our children, keeping our communities safe, we’re in a we have a problem. And right now, the Republican Party is focusing on those issues. [00:36:57][44.2]

STARNES: [00:36:57] And as a result of that, I understand you have received just a mountain of racist hate mail. [00:37:02][5.0]

MAINOR: [00:37:04] I have. And they are from Democrats. And, you know, you think Democrats are a party of tolerance. They did not tolerate me, if you will, when I was with them. They are not tolerating me when I’m not with them. So to say you’re a party of inclusion. You only are inclusive to a select few people. And children that can’t read are not a part of that agenda. [00:37:31][26.7]

STARNES: [00:37:32] Well, I know here in Memphis on Thursday, a large group of black citizens getting together, forming their very first Republican club. And I think it’s exciting to see people, you know, finally waking up and realizing, wait a second, there is another path. There is another way forward. [00:37:48][15.7]

MAINOR: [00:37:49] Now, is this already happening? [00:37:51][2.2]

STARNES: [00:37:52] Yeah, it’s happening on Thursday. Mm hmm. In Memphis, Tennessee. [00:37:55][3.0]

MAINOR: [00:37:56] If they are listening, tell them to reach out to me. I would love to help support them in any way I can. [00:38:02][5.8]

STARNES: [00:38:03] Well, that’s great to know. We will. We will definitely do that. Representative, I know we’ve got your contact information and we will we will make that happen. Well, welcome. And I’m fairly sure we disagree on a lot of other things, but we can agree that this is a great nation and we’ve got to do our part to raise up that next generation of American patriots. [00:38:22][18.9]

MAINOR: [00:38:23] Absolutely and please send your listeners to MeshaMainor.com to help me fight this cause. [00:38:30][6.8]

STARNES: [00:38:30] We will definitely do that. And representative we’ve got to break for the top of the hour news so God bless you and best of luck and welcome to the Republican Party. [00:38:38][8.0]

MAINOR: [00:38:39] Thank you so much. Have a great day. [00:38:41][1.5]

STARNES: [00:38:41] All right. State Representative Mesha Mainor from Georgia. And, you know, she did say something about this is not the same Democrat Party as the 1960s. Actually, I think it is. I think that part the Democrat Party of the 1960s was racist and they wanted to stop blacks from having the right to vote. They wanted to deny civil rights. It was the Republican Party back in the 1960s that actually stood up and take and took a stand. [00:39:07][25.5]
