In recent remarks, former President Donald Trump criticized President Joe Biden’s administration, drawing a comparison to the secret police of the Nazi regime during World War II. Trump made these comments while addressing donors at a retreat in Florida, where he shared the stage with supporters and potential running mates in an effort to bridge the fundraising gap with Biden.

According to reports from The New York Times and The Washington Post, audio recordings of Trump’s remarks revealed his assertion that Democrats, under Biden’s leadership, are behind the various federal and state-level indictments he is currently facing while simultaneously campaigning for the White House in this year’s election.

“These people are running a Gestapo administration,” Trump said. “And it’s the only thing they have. And it’s the only way they’re going to win, in their opinion, and it’s actually killing them. But it doesn’t bother me.”

Trump is presently undergoing trial in a 2016 election “hush-money” case in New York, which was initiated by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Furthermore, he is facing charges in a 2020 election case centered in Georgia, led by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. Additionally, there is a separate 2020 election case and a classified documents case overseen by special counsel Jack Smith. Trump has consistently maintained his innocence in both the criminal proceedings and civil litigation pertaining to his business and personal matters. In addition to pleading not guilty to numerous charges, Trump has asserted that the prosecutors are engaging in a politically motivated “witch hunt” against him.

Recently, Trump’s legal representatives submitted documents to request the dismissal of Smith’s classified documents case, citing selective prosecution as the grounds. The filing mentions several political figures who have engaged in similar activities for which the former president is being prosecuted, including former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former FBI Director James Comey, and President Joe Biden.

“President Donald J. Trump respectfully submits that the indictment must be dismissed on the basis of the office’s selective prosecution,” the attorneys said in a court filing.
