(CBrief) – Former President Donald Trump said the New York City fraud trial against him is exactly that – a fraud.
When Trump walked out of the courtroom, reporters asked the 45th president about his testimony and how he perceived things were going in the trial.
“I think it went very well. I think you were there. You listened. You see what scam this is. This is a case that should have never been brought. It’s a case that should be dismissed immediately. The fraud is on behalf of the court. The court was the fraudster in this case,” Trump began.
“They made references to assets that were very valuable and they said — they had no idea what the numbers were, when they said $18 million for Mar-a-Lago, and it’s 50 to 100 times that amount by any estimation. It’s a terrible thing that’s happening here. We’re taking days and days and weeks and weeks, it goes on, and then you look at the outside world and what’s happening. But, of course, they’re getting their wish, because I don’t have to be here, for the most part, but I sort of do have to be here because I want to be here. This is a scam and this is a case that should have never been brought and it’s a case that now should be dismissed,” Trump said.
“Everyone saw what happened today, everyone saw what happened with their star witness, who admitted that I never told him what he originally said I did, he admitted that he lied, and he has absolutely no credibility whatsoever. That’s their only witness. That’s their only witness. And I think you saw what I had to say today and it was very conclusive. Everything we did was absolutely right. To think we’re being sued and spending all this time and money, and you have people being killed all over the world that this country could stop,” he added.
Trump concluded: “With inflation and all of the other problems that this country has, I think it’s a disgrace. And when you look at the numbers, the poll numbers that came out today from The New York Times and CBS, I’m sure The Times was not too happy, but people are sick and tired of what’s happening. This is a sad — I think it’s a very sad day for America. But, anyway, this is a case that should have never been brought and it’s a case that should be immediately dismissed. Thank you. Thank you very much.”

On Monday night, Lara Trump made similar comments about the trial and what the Trump family was dealing with in New York.
“I think everyone sees what this is all about,” Lara Trump said on “Eric Bolling The Balance.” “Never has this been about protecting the citizens of New York.”
Lara Trump, who is married to Eric Trump, the youngest son of the former president, said everyone should have believed the New York attorney general when she conveyed her plans out loud the first time.
“You have Letitia James, who has been on a ravenous witch hunt for Donald Trump. It’s all about politics,” Lara Trump said. “She told us herself when she ran for attorney general of the state of New York. She never cared about the fact that there was nobody who was harmed. There was never an injured party at all. There’s no plaintiff in this case. She wants Donald Trump, and she told us that before she ever had her hands on any information about him.”
“I think you’re going to see my father-in-law have a lot to say about this at his next available opportunity. It is sick. It’s despicable, and it’s un-American what’s going on,” she added.
